Pre-Course Information

Pre-Course Information

Welcome! We are delighted that you have chosen to do the E.P.I. course on Food Allergy Safety created by Belay and the Elijah-Alavi Foundation.

Before you start, we wanted to remind you of the requirements for earning a certificate in this course. By agreeing, you are committing to staying on track, learning the course materials, completing the work on your own, and taking the Pre- and Post-Course Assessments.

Our course is divided into three sections that fall under the acronym, EPI.  Educate, Prevent, Inject.  These three modules may be completed at your own pace or within the scheduled time that your school or childcare facility has allotted for you. Each of the three sections is followed by several discussion questions that do not impact your final score for certification. All lessons must be reviewed in the order that they are given. Please be sure to give yourself enough time.

The Pre-Course and Post-Course Assessments

You will be given an assessment before and after the course. The good news is that the questions are the same in each assessment. We use these two assessments to compare what you knew before the course and how much you learned from taking the course. Your score on the Pre-Course Assessment has no effect on your certification whatsoever. However, in order to become certified, you must get a 90% or higher on the Post-Course Assessment. If you do not receive 90% on the Post-Course Assessment we will happily arrange for you to retake it. These assessments must be completed on your own and without the input or help of anyone else. This material concerns the safety and well-being of children so we ask that you take this seriously, commit to the course content, and ensure that all work is your own.  We cannot certify anyone who has not completed the Assessments on their own.

Certification and Re-Certification:

Students who successfully complete the course and receive 90% on the Post-Course assessment will receive certification in Food Allergy Safety from Belay and receive C.E.U credits, if desired.
Certification lasts for two years (24 months) only. To maintain your E.P.I certification in Food Allergy Safety, all students must get re-certified every 24 months.
Belay will notify all registrants via email ahead of their expiration dates.
